Lebanese scientist in the field of Environmental Sciences and Nanotechnologies. She is the President of Research Laboratory on Applied Studies for Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy (LEADDER). She is Chair of the Master 2 Research Programme in physical chemistry, materials, catalysis and environment at the faculty of sciences at LU since 2010. She is the Coordinator of the International Conference on Materials Sciences (CSM) since 2004. She is an Adjunct Professor and Fulbrighter at the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Washington State University, USA, 2011.

She has received several awards for her research and scientific career. In 2011, she got brilliantly a Fulbright grant from American Embassy in Beirut and then she served as Chair of chemistry and biochemistry Department at the Lebanese University. The exemplary scientific and professional career of Doctor Toufaily has been awarded in 2012: she was selected as One of 12 Outstanding Women Scientists for the U.S. State Department's Middle East and North Africa 2012 Women in Science Hall of Fame program.

She participated in many projects. She is the Technical Manager in the environmental Landcare Med project (ENPI-CBC- Med, European Union) which deals with solid waste management and treatment. The project has won the Best Environmental Project of the Year 2015 Award.

In 2008 she was promoted full professor at the FS-LU, being the youngest professor at the FS.
