Dr. Robert Swap leads the NASA Pandora Project at Goddard Space Flight Center's Laboratory for Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics. The project utilizes ground-based sun/sky spectrometers to observe air quality and atmospheric composition across the globe. He has also served as a NASA HQ Program Officer with the ESD Radiation Sciences Program. Dr. Swap, an award winning environmental scientist and educator who focuses on understanding coupled human-natural systems through the study of land-atmosphere interactions, has held a range of academic and leadership positions for international, interdisciplinary research and education initiatives in emerging regions, most notably, subequatorial Africa and Brazil. This includes serving as PI of the Southern African Regional Science Initiative (SAFARI 2000), Fulbright Senior Specialist in Mozambique, and U.S. Embassy Science Fellow in Windhoek Namibia. Dr. Swap is also an Extraordinary Professor in Environmental Sciences and Management at North West University in South Africa and has lectured extensively on responsible engagement for AAAS, TWAS, the UN and numerous national/international universities. His Interests include Science Diplomacy, servant leadership & experiential learning.
