Prof. Gheorghe SIN was born on 11 June 1942, Piatra, Romania. Graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture (Agronomical Institute – Bucharest), Ph.D. thesis in 1972.

Professional activity and functions:

• Senior researcher on soil and crop management at the Research Institute for Cereals and Industrial Crops (RICIC) – Fundulea; Professor at the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine – Bucharest, Ph.D. scientific coordinator; Numerous scientific papers and books published in Romania and abroad; Awards: Order “Scientific Merit”; The Romanian Academy Prize “Ion Ionescu de la Brad”; Member of the Romanian Academy.
• Director General of RICIC–Fundulea (1998-2000); Director of the Research, Education and Extension Directorate in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (1993-1997); State Secretary at the same Ministry (2001- 2002); Secretary General (2001- 2009) and the President of the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences (since 2009).
