Geoffrey I. Nwaka, Nigerian, is Professor of History and formerly Dean of  the College of Postgraduate Studies at Abia State University, Uturu, Nigeria. He did graduate work in England and Canada in the 1970s; has a Masters degree from the University of Birmingham, and a PhD from Dalhousie. He has several years of teaching and research experience in Nigerian universities, and was visiting scholar at various universities and research institutes in Europe, Australia and North America. His research interests are in historical and contemporary urban issues, environmental protection, and African development. He has published and traveled widely, and has served in government as Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State of Nigeria.
