Zoltan Neda received his PhD in Physics in 1994 from Babes-Bolyai University, Romania. After two post-doc periods spent in France and Taiwan, and visiting positions in the USA, Norway and Portugal, he obtained a full professorship at Babes-Bolyai University’s physics department. His research area is statistical physics with interdisciplinary applications. Besides  technical and mathematical papers in classical statistical physics he published many interdisciplinary works in the field of econo-physics, socio-physics, material science, networks, ecology and biology.  In 2007 he was elected external member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. For his more than 100 research articles published in top ranked journals and 4 books, he has above 5000 citations. He supervised 13 PhD thesis in statistical physics. He won several prestigious prizes like the Stefan Procopiu prize of the Romanian Academy of Sciences, the Master of the Transylvanian Science prize offered by the Cluj branch of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the gold medal for master professors given by the Student Union in Hungary and several teaching and research excelence prizes of the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj. Currently he is the vice president for research at the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj, president of the EmpirX society for science education and popularization in Romania and president of the Transilvanian branch of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (KAB).
