Dr Maysoun A. Mustafa manages CFFPLUS DTP – a Doctoral Training Partnership between Crops For the Future and the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus – where she oversees the professional and academic development of postgraduate students. Being the largest single commitment made to research on underutilised crops, CFFPLUS DTP targets food security in the face of climate change by encouraging agricultural diversification.

Maysoun joined Southeast Asian Council For Food Security and Fair Trade (SEACON), a regional NGO that facilitates dialogue and collaboration across a network of NGOs spanning eight of the ASEAN nations, in 2015. She has engaged in projects for enhancing smallholders' livelihoods in the region, such as stewardship programs for best farming practices and promoting knowledge-sharing through ICT platforms.

Having earned a BSc (Hons) in Plant Biotechnology from the University of Nottingham, and a PhD in Biosciences from the University of Nottingham, she is a postharvest biologist with a chief interest in the nutritional properties of fruits and vegetables, and reducing food losses. She has been actively engaged in research, education and outreach, to boost sustainable agricultural practices and food security through proactive and inclusive research.
