Binyam received his PhD from University of Oslo in 2008. He taught linguistics at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia from 2008 to 2016. He has assumed various academci positions including the Dean of the newly established Faculty of Humanities (2010-2012). He is currently employed at UNESCO's International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) as a program officer for teacher education and curriculum development, but he still continues to supervise PhD students at the university. 

 

Dr. Binyam Sisay is a founding fellow of the Ethiopian Young Academy of Science (EtYAS), an inaugural fellow of the African Science Leadership Program (ASLP) and member of the Global Young Academy (GYA). With Knowinnovation he got involved as a mentor and facilitator of science leadership programs and he is currently serving as a member of the Steering Committee of ASLP. He is also working with former and current GYA members to develop a blue print of a science leadership program to be given to young and early-career sceientists across Africa.

 

He has a research track record with numerous field-specific and multidisciplinary publications. His recent publication include a co-edited volume entitled 'Multilingual Ethiopia: Linguistic Challenges and Capacity Building Efforts'.
