Jean-Paul J. Gonzalez graduated from the Medical School of Bordeaux University (M.D., Internal Medicine) France. He earned a Ph.D. in Viral Ecology and Genetics at the Faculty of Sciences of Clermont-Ferrand University, France. After completing his internship in the Amazonian French Guiana, he works as medical researcher of the Pasteur Institute International Network and the French Institute of Research for Development, implementing research, training and expertise for developing countries across the Americas, Africa and Asia. His main fields of research and expertise encompass disease emergence, eco-epidemiology, and biosurveillance. He has led field and laboratory teams of researchers within several partner institutes of different countries, including Brazil, Central African Republic, Gabon, Senegal, Thailand, Laos PDR, among others. He earned a fellowship of the CDC in Atlanta, and, was visiting professor at Yale University. As Global Health and One Health expert, he belongs to the advising board of several institutions. Today, Doctor Gonzalez has been appointed at Kansas State University as a Deputy Director of the Centre of Excellence for Emerging Zoonosis and Animal Diseases, where its work extensively focus on zoonotic diseases (Detection and vaccine), perpetuating is engagement on One Health approach and international Global Health. He has published more than 270 peer reviewed scientific manuscripts, books and book chapters.
