Dr. Gertler is a Research Professor in the Division of Atmospheric Sciences at the Desert Research Institute and DRI’s Federal Government Liaison. He is the former Vice President for Research at DRI and Senior Director of DRI’s Clean Technologies and Renewable Energy Center.  

 

His current research efforts include measurements and characterization of emissions from mobile sources operating on traditional, biofuel, and HCNG blends, development of new methods to attribute observed PM levels to specific sources, evaluating the magnitude and sources of atmospheric deposition, and urban air qualities studies in the developing world.

 

Dr. Gertler representing the Board of the International Arid Lands Consortium (IALC) at the Forum.  The IALC is focused on facilitating collaborative research and promoting global peace through sustainable agricultural and natural resources practices.

 

He has received numerous awards including the Regents’ Researcher Award (Nevada System of Higher Education), Hope for the Future for a Sustainable World Award (International Union of Air Pollution Prevention & Environmental Protection Agencies, IUAPPA), Alessandro Dandini Medal of Science (Desert Research Institute), and the Thomas Kuhn Medal (International Union of Air of Pollution Prevention & Environmental Protection Agencies, IUAPPA).
