Dr Antonella Di Trapani is a Chemist by background who has developed large expertise in the area of science management, policy and communication and gender in science at EU and global level.

She is currently working as Science Policy Officer for the EC Scientific Advice Mechanism within the SAPEA (Science Advice for Policy by European Academies) Consortium and she is based  in Euro-CASE since January 2017. Previously she was Head of International Cooperation at the G20 Wheat Initiative Secretariat, developing the international strategy and policy of large-scale research funding collaborations. She has been also Programme Manager in two European organisations, the European Research Council and the European Science Foundation. She started her research career as Marie Curie TMR Fellow (Trinity College Dublin) and she was awarded a second Marie Curie Fellowship in Johnson Matthey Technology Centre. 

Her main area of interest are science advice for policy, international research collaborations, science-capacity building programmes, researchers' mobility, young researchers' careers and women in science. 

She has been Chair of the MCFA and is currently Vice-Chair of the Gender in Science WG of the MCAA. 

She holds a PhD in Chemistry, and a PostGraduate Diploma in Quality Improvement from Trinity College Dublin, a MSc in Science Communication from University of Ferrara and a PostGrad Diploma in International Development from the London School of Economics and Social Sciences.
