Evangelia Daskalakis obtained her PhD in Metabolomics from the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) of the University of Strathclyde (UK, 2015). She received a scholarship from the World Anti-Doping Agency and SIPBS to investigate the use of a metabolomics-based approach to detect a metabolic signature of recombinant human erythropoietin (r-HuEPO) in various biological matrices of Caucasian endurance trained men, under the supervision of Dr David Watson. During her first post-doctoral position at the same university (2015-2016), Evangelia was seconded to the London College of Fashion (UK) to develop cosmetics with specialized actives of bee venom, with the aim to commercialize the research output to further pharmaceutical interests in these actives. The work was funded by the Impact Acceleration Account (University of Strathclyde) via the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. In March 2017, Evangelia joined Dr Craig Wheelock’s Integrative Molecular Phenotyping Laboratory (metabolomics.se) at the Karolinska Institute to investigate the role of small molecule metabolites in immuno-metabolism, in a collaborative set of projects funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
