Leon Chlon graduated from the University of Warwick in 2013 with a bachelors degree in Mathematics & Physics before receiving his masters degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge in 2014. His PhD entitled "Machine Learning Methods for Computational Immunology" focused on using statistics to identify novel molecular targets within breast cancer that can be potentially targeted to maximize the anti-tumoral immune response. Furthermore, his work helped to identify subgroups of pancreatic cancer patients that may be amenable to targeted immune checkpoint therapy. He has recently been appointed as a Harvard Medical School research fellow, focusing on finding patterns in brain activity associated with different states of consciousness. Outside of research, he is passionate about social enterprise, having been the conceptual lead on several projects ranging from solar powered Wi-Fi to mobile apps gauging macular degeneration in diabetic patients.
