Zainal Abidin Bagir teaches at the Center for Religious and Cross-cultural Studies, Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia. He was a visiting lecturer at the Department of Religious Studies, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. (2013-2014) In 2008-2013 he was the Indonesian Regional Coordinator for the Pluralism Knowledge Programme, a collaboration between four academic centers in Netherlands, India, Indonesia and Uganda. His recent publication includes a few articles on religion and science in Zygon, Journal of Religion and Science, on religion and ecology (including an entry on Islam in Routledge Handbook of Religion and Ecology, Routledge (2016), and Science and Religion in the Post-colonial World: Interfaith Perspectives, Australasian Theological Forum Press, Adelaide, Australia, 2006 (Editor). His recent publications on topics related to religious freedom and pluralism in Indonesia include “Advocacy for Religious Freedom in Democratizing Indonesia” (Review of Faith and International Affairs, 2014), a survey of religious freedom in Indonesia (published as part of assessment on religious freedom in ASEAN countries, Keeping the Faith, 2015).
