Dr Stoffer (Stef) Stienstra

CV
Freelance science journalist since 1984 and member of the Dutch National Union of Science Journalists. Prefers to present information ‘clear and crispy’ and depicts new developments to the point. He is on freelance basis editor of several professional magazines in medicine and technology. He was several times the first to write a thorough scientific and critical article on hot issues, like the AIDS therapy according to Prof. Buck. Was one of the firsts to arrange an interview simultaneously with the AIDS pioneers Prof. Gallo and Prof. Montagnier. He has won the prestigious European EICOS fellowship prize for science journalists in 1998.
Is also Officer of the Reserve of the Royal Dutch Navy at the 1CMI Command (Civil-Military-Interaction) active in the C&E (communication and engagement) branch. He has studied both medicine and biochemistry at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands and started his career in 1982 after finishing both studies as clinical chemist at the Royal Navy Hospital in The Netherlands.
He is often invited as speaker, chairman and/or moderator at congresses.
