I hold a PhD in Geography and Environmental Management from The University of Queensland, Masters and Bachelors degrees in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Nairobi Kenya. I have over 20 years experience working in a range of research, academic and service delivery roles in Sub-Saharan  Africa and in Australia. At the Global Change Institute and with in collaboration with a dynamic team of academics and researchers, I oversee a portfolio of international and domestic projects and initiatives on food security, a community of practice among academics in the University of Queensland working on dimensions of the food systems, as well as small community and grassroots initiatives. As well as academic and research activities at teh University, I am involved in various activities to raise the conversation and engagement on urban food systems with city planners, plicy makers and international forums including participation in international forums in addressing  Sustainable Development Goals such as the United Nations Habitat III in Ecuador in 2016 and the World Ecocity 2017 in Melbourne.
