Tahir Aziz is the South Asia Programme Director at Conciliation Resources, a UK-based peacebuilding organisation that provides practical support to help people affected by violent conflict achieve lasting peace and works to improve peacebuilding practice worldwide. Tahir has been leading the organisation’s work on Kashmir for the past 10 years. Previously, he worked as Research Associate (South Asia) at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London (2004-2005); Senior Associate with the Washington DC-based International Center for Religion and Diplomacy (2001-2004); and Director of the Human Rights Commission of the Government of Pakistan–administered Kashmir (1998-2001). Tahir holds two Masters degrees – one in Anthropology awarded by the Quaid-e-Azam University, Pakistan (with a thesis on cultural boundary maintenance based on field research with the Kashmiri community in England), and the second in International Peace and Conflict Studies at the Joan B. Kroc Institute of International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame, USA.
