Farhan Ansari is currently affiliated with an Inter-governmental Organization of 25 developing countries, the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), as Sr. Assistant Director (Programmes). An electrical engineer by academic qualification and programme manager by profession, Mr. Ansari is cognizant of the development challenges in the countries of the South. During his career at COMSATS, Mr. Ansari has executed several projects and activities related to the capacity building of technical human resource in the developing world, and facilitation of research activities focused at solving problems of the developing countries through mutual dependence and cooperation. Specific areas of these activities include cyber security, climate change and environmental protection, renewable energy, etc. Mr. Ansari was also involved in the formulation of Pakistan’s National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (2012). He has maintained close contacts with various international organizations as well as government departments, embassies and universities in Islamabad. In connection with fulfilling different official assignments, Mr. Ansari has traveled to various countries in Asia and Africa.
