Khalid Al-Begain is the first President of Kuwait College of Science and Technology, a newly established Private University in Kuwait. He is trusted to lead the creation of a university with international standards and excellence in Teaching and Research.

In a reduced capacity, he continues to hold the position of Professor of Mobile Computing and Networking and the Director of the Integrated Communications Research Centre  at the University of South Wales, UK. He was the  Founder and Director of the Centre of Excellence in Mobile Applications and Services (CEMS), a £6.5million Centre. He is also  the founder and co-director of the newly formed Centre of Excelence on Mobile and Emerging Technologies with additional £6.4million funding.

He is the President of the European Council for Modelling and Simulation (ECMS) and has been the President of the Federation of European Simulation Societies (EuroSim) leading the UK Presidency term of 2010. He is the first person ever to take this role in both organisations.

He received his MSc and PhD in Communications Engineering in 1986 and 1989, respectively, from the Budapest University of Technology, Hungary. He also holds a PGDiploma in Management from University of Glamorgan, UK in 2011. He has recently completed the prestigious “Senior Strategic Leadership” course with The Leadership Foundation in Higher Education in the UK.

He received several awards, has two patents, edited 25 and authored two books and over 200 articles.
