Feras Afaneh is Professor of Atomic and Molecular Physics at the Hashemite University, Jordan. He received his BS degree in Physics and MS degree in Material Science with highest honors from the University of Jordan in 1990 and '94 respectively and his Ph. D. in Atomic  and Molecular Physics  (summa cum laude) from Goethe University in Frankfurt /M, Germany. He joined Hashemite University as Assistant Professor in 2002 and became an Associate Professor in 2008. For short intervals, he has been visiting associate professor at Goethe University (Germany) and visiting scientist at Berlin University of Technology (Germany), Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg (Germany), Lund University (Sweden), Missouri University of Science and Technology (USA), BESSY (Germany), DESY (Germany), CERN (Switzerland) and GSI (Germany). His research focuses on the quantum processes in atoms and molecules, from the passage of electrons across atoms in a few hundred attoseconds to the bending and breaking of molecular bonds during collisions in a few picoseconds. Dr. Afaneh is recipient of many awards for scientific research excellence from DAAD, AGAF and DFG (Germany), IAEA (UN), TWAS (Italy), HU and SRTD (Jordan), and SIDA and SI (Sweden). He served on numerous national/international committees, panels, and boards. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers in reputed international journals (Nature, PRL, CPPC,..) and conferences.
