Dr. Abuhassan has critically contributed to design and development of multiple, world-recognized environmental sensors, such as the Cimel sun photometer, the Solar Viewing Interferometer and the Pandora Spectrometer. For the past 20 years, Dr. Abuhassan has been working on NASA-funded initiatives to validate ground based, aircraft and satellite measurements. He is responsible for the design and construction of sensors capable of automatically measuring a wide range of atmospheric pollutants and real-time monitoring of greenhouse gases. For his efforts, Dr. Abuhassan has been recognized with an outstanding performance award for his latest design of the Pandora. Over the past several years, more than 40 of Dr. Abuhassan’s NASA Pandora systems have been deployed to support air quality/atmospheric composition field campaigns such as NASA’s DISCOVER_AQ, KORUS_AQ, SARP, OWLETS and the EPA LMOS. He has extensive international experience and his related, ground-based systems have been deployed in more than 100 countries worldwide.
