Dr. Sadiddin was born in Damascus, Syria. He holds a Ph.D in agricultural economics and policy from the University of Naples Federico II, and a master of science degree in agricultural economics from University of London Imperial College. He worked for the National Agricultural Policy Center/Damascus from 2003-2012, was a research fellow at the University of Florence from 2013-2016. He is currently an economist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). In 2010 Dr. Sadiddin was honoured for the best doctorate thesis, granted by the Italian Society of Agricultural Economics (SIDEA). His areas of expertise include farming systems and rural development, economics of water, agricultural risk management, agricultural policy analysis, economics of climate change adaptation, economics of frauds in food systems, and economics of structural and rural transformations.
