Tariq Durrani is Research Professor at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow Scotland. From 2000-2006 he was Deputy Principal (Pro-Vice Chancellor) responsible for Staff Development, Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, Centre for Lifelong Learning and the University’s IT and computing infrastructure.

 

Tariq Durrani has presented at the WSF-2013 in Rio de Janeiro, and organized a Workshop in partnership with the IEEE at WSF -2015 in Budapest.

 

His research covers Communications, Signal Processing, Technology Management. He has authored 350 publications; supervised 45 PhDs; held Visiting appointments at Princeton, University of Southern California, Stirling, UESTC Chengdu, China and Tianjin Normal University China.

 

He was 2006-07 President IEEE Engineering Management Society; Past President IEEE Signal Processing Society and 2010-11 Vice President IEEE Educational Activities Board.

 

He has been 2013-16 Vice President (International) Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s National Academy for Sciences and Letters

 

Tariq has held Directorships in eight organizations including UK National Commission for UNESCO; served as advisor to Governments of UK, Netherlands, Portugal, UAE, US and European Union.

 

He is Fellow: IEEE, UK Royal Academy of Engineering, Royal Society of Edinburgh, and IET, and the Third World Academy of Sciences. In 2003 he was awarded the OBE by HM Queen Elizabeth for services to higher education and electronics research.
