Simge Davulcu is an Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry from Cyprus. She has obtained her PhD from the University of Bath, UK in 2014. She has recently completed a post-doctoral research project at the University of Cagliari, Sardinia in the area of Mechanochemistry. She is currently an Organic Chemistry Lecturer and is the Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences Department in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Girne American University in Cyprus. Her main research interest is developing novel, atom-efficient catalytic processes for the formation of C-N bonds in pharmaceutically important molecules. She has been promoted as the Secretary General of ICORSA in 2016, and has a major interest in Science Diplomacy. She is the Co-Founder of Science for Peace Initiative in Cyprus; which is one of the follow-up organisations stemming from the Science for Peace Project call opened by UNESCO after the World Science Forum 2015, in Budapest. Science for Peace Initiative provides a platfrom for Turkish and Greek Cypriot scientists to partner and organise bi-communal scientific workshops for young students with the motto “Science overcomes borders” to help peace and reconcilliation between the two communities in Cyprus.
