Dr. Zaki is a hydrologist with engineering background and education. He is the focal point of Sustainable Development at the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Sciences in the Arab States, UNESCO Cairo Office. Dr. Zaki is responsible for planning, executing and implementing the UNESCO Ecological and Earth Science program in the Arab members.
Dr. Zaki has gotten a PhD, 2 MSc degrees and 1 Diploma degree in natural resources management and engineering sciences fields in addition to the successful completion of many international training courses in USA and Europe. In addition, Dr. Zaki has a wide experience in the environmental engineering field in general and water resources management in particular, which he has gathered through technical career. He has good experience in implementing environmental education projects and public/community awareness programs targeting different groups.
Dr. Zaki succeeded to build a good network and links with water experts, policy makers and regional organizations in the Arab region and Africa. Dr. Zaki managed a network of more than 60 researchers and policy makers in 6 Nile countries working in the field of integrated water resources engineering and management comprising the implementation of more than 28 research project.
