Kate Shaw is an experimental particle physicist at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, an UNESCO institute, working on the ATLAS experiment at CERN. Kate is passionate about promoting physics in developing countries working with ICTP and various other organisations and scientific bodies. In 2012 Kate founded the ICTP Physics Without Frontiers program, which works to inspire physics and mathematics university students in developing countries with cutting-edge research and to motivate them to continue their studies and consider a career in research. Kate is also passionate about science communication and outreach, among her wide ranging activities she has been the outreach coordinator for the ATLAS experiment at CERN since 2014, and won the European Physical Society Outreach Prize in 2015.
