Dr. Khasawneh is the Director General of the National Information Technology Center based in Amman, Jordan. In his position, he is responsible for putting the strategies, policies and plans of the Ministry of ICT, related to government use of ICT into action to enhance, stimulate and accelerate the use of IT in Jordan and to manage the Government Operations Center, offering secure and reliable facilities to meet high demands of government customers.  He is also responsible for the deployment of ICT as a major contributor to Jordan’s economic and social development through creating a connected society, connected businesses and connected government. He oversees the implementation of JOCERT as part of the Jordan cyber security initiative.

Dr. Khasawneh is the Manager for ccTLD (.jo) and IDN (.الاردن) and Jordan's representative in the ICANN and IANA organization.

Before joining NITC, Dr. Khasawneh was an associate professor at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) , Mutha University, and part time lecturer at many Jordanian Universities.

Other experiences include more than 20 years as an IT engineer at JAF, and an IT consultant (USA) .

He also maintained an active teaching and research career.
