Dr. Samen Ahmed Khan is Assistant Profesor at the Department of Mathematics and Sciences, College of Arts and Applied Sciences, Dhofar University, Salalah, Sultanate of Oman. He did PhD on the quantum theory of charged-particle beam optics, from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, India, under the supervision of Prof. Ramaswamy Jagannathan. He did Post-Doctorate researh at the INFN-Padova, Italy and UNAM, Cuernavaca, Mexico. He has fourteen years of teaching experience in Oman. He has single-handedly developed a unified treatment of light-beam optics and light polarization using quantum methodologies. This new formalism was among the thirty selected by the Optical Society [of America] for the 'Optics in 2016', highlighting the world-wide breakthroughs innovations in optics and photonic in that year. He has authoured three books, ten book-chapters and over sixty technical publications in journals and proceedings. He has over 220 publications on science popularization. He is one of the Founding Members of the Ibn Al Haytham LHiSA Light: History, Science and Applications International Society formed during the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies.
