Helene de Rode  graduated from the Catholic University of Louvain (U.C.L.), where she became professor of law in 1993 till 2003 (Insurance Law, Contracts Law, Torts law). Since 2009, she is professor at the UCL-Mons. She also practices law and is an attorney-at-law at the Bar of Liege in 1978 (she is senior partner in the law firm Actium-Law). She developed since more than 25 years a practice whose essential activities are focused on Insurance Law, Commercial Law, Contracts Law, Torts Law, Corporate Law, Arbitration, Real estate. She is the author of many scientific publications in these areas and gave invited talks in international meetings and symposia.

 

She was an Expert in Insurance Law for the European Commission and made missions for the E.C. in Estonia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. She also made studies for the O.E.C.D.

 

She is the founder of the European Academy of Sciences of which she was President from 2004 to 2010, Vice-President and Treasurer from 2010 to 2014. She is now Perpetual Secretary since 2014.

 

Since 2009, she prepared with various national universities the annual events of EURASC (in Italy, Greece, France, Belgium) and since 2012, EURASC organizes each year an international symposium on the general theme ‘The future of Sciences in the 21th Century’; the results of the symposium are summarized in a final ‘Declaration’, to express the EURASC views and policies proposals to the European Authorities.
