Lena Karlsson is Programme Manager at the UN Women Arab States Regional Office. She leads the Men and Women for Gender Equality Programme, which aims to strengthen gender equality by addressing the root causes of gender equality through a bottom up approach. This programme, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), has a strong focus on engaging boys and men in gender equality and promoting gender equality in the family context. Lena is a business economist with a Master’s Degree in Aid and Development and with significant global experience in women´s and children’s rights. Her professional experience consists of 30 years of progressively responsible positions in Europe, Africa and Asia, for UN agencies. ( Before joining UN Women, Lena was Save the Children´s Global Director of Child Protection.
