Mike Hardy CMG OBE FRSA

 

is Professor of Intercultural Relations and founding Director of the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University.

 

Mike led economics departments at both Leeds and Central Lancashire Universities and was a Fulbright Scholar in the USA. From 1995, Mike managed British Council’s global programme for intercultural and interfaith dialogue, youth engagement and global strategic partnerships; his postings included Middle East and Indonesia.

 

From 2011 as Professor in Intercultural Relations at Coventry directs the RISING Global Peace Forum at Coventry. His Centre hosts the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS) from 2018.

 

Professor Hardy was awarded the OBE in 2001 for his peace-building work in the Middle East, and appointed a Companion of Honour (CMG) in 2010 for his work internationally in Intercultural Dialogue.

 

He is most recent publications focus on human and protective security: Inclusive Innovation for Sustainable Development (2016), Decision-theoretic behaviour analysis: risk management and terrorist intensity 2017, Protecting Crowded Places from Terrorism 2017, and Dialogue, Conflict and Transformation: Concepts and Context (2017).

 

Jessica Kingsley Publishers Ltd published his prize winning co-edited volume Muslim Identity in a Turbulent Age: Islamic Extremism and Western Islamaphobia in January 2017.
